报告题目:A Step for AI CoPilot in Medical Diagnosis and Surgery

The world is faced with an ageing population, which brings about increasing threat for accessibility and quality of medical services. Technological innovations are important to address the forthcoming challenges and hold unprecedented opportunities to transform the healthcare industry. Recent rapid advancements in Al and robotics have made the domain of medical applications highly interdisciplinary, where clinicians take advantages of computers, sensors and robots to perform medical diagnosis and interventions with more efficiency and precision. Al CoPilot, together with its authorized cognitive assistance, intelligent data analytics, and automation, is envisaged to be an effective tool to facilitate clinical workflow in numerous known or unknown ways. In this talk, I will present our research and developments in medical image analysis and robotic surgical intelligence as a demonstration for one step forward such Al CoPilot in medical applications. My talk will cover novel methodologies for addressing technical challenges from medical data, as well as a few use cases with specific system integrations through long-term joint effort with clinical collaborators. I will also share experiences and pitfalls in conducting interdisciplinary research.
报告人简介:
Prof. Qi Dou is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She is an affiliated member of CUHK T-Stone Robotics Institute, CUHK Institute of Medical Intelligence and XR, Hong Kong Multi-scale Medical Robotics Center, and Hong Kong Centre for Logistics Robotics. Her research is at the interdisciplinary field of medical image analysis, machine learning and robotic surgery intelligence. Her research work has received a number of international and national awards, including IEEE EMBS Early Career Achievement Award (2023), China NSFC Excellent Young Scientists Fund (2023), Ministry of Education Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award — Second-class Award in Natural Sciences (2022), Hong Kong Young Scientist Award (2018). Her research publications have received a number of prestigious best paper awards, including MedIA-MICCAI Best Paper Award (2017), IEEE TBME Prize Paper Award (2021), IEEE ICRA Best Paper Award in Medical Robotics (2021), IJCARS-MICCAI Best Paper Award (2021 & 2024), MICCAI Young Scientist Publication Award (2022), MICCAI Best Paper Award Finalist (2023 & 2024). Prof. Dou has been active in the research community. She serves as General Co-Chair for MICCAI 2026, Program Co-Chair for MICCAI 2024, IPCAI 2023, MICCAI 2022, and MIDL 2022, Senior Program Committee for IROS 2025, Area Chair for NeurIPS 2024-2025, etc. She is currently serving as the Associate Editor for international journals including IEEE TMI, MedIA, IEEE TBME, and IEEE RAL.
