Abstract: High-resolution land cover mapping plays a crucial role in environmental monitoring, urban planning, and disaster management. However, achieving high classification accuracy and spatial resolution remains a significant challenge in geospatial research. This report will present the development of innovative methodologies and their applications in creating high-resolution land cover products. The focus will be on the integration of multi-source geospatial data, the use of advanced deep learning techniques, and the deployment of adaptive fusion models. Case studies will highlight the generation of 3D land cover maps across major cities and the mapping of disaster impacts since 2010.
Biography: Junshi Xia is a Senior Research Scientist (tenured) at the RIKEN Center for Advanced Intelligence Project (AIP) in Tokyo, Japan. He specializes in multiple classifier systems in remote sensing, hyperspectral remote sensing image processing, and the application of deep learning techniques in geospatial analysis. Dr. Xia received the First Place Prize in the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Data Fusion Contest organized by the Image Analysis and Data Fusion Technical Committee in 2017. He has published extensively, serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters (GRSL), Remote Sensing, and Frontiers in Environmental Science/Ecology and Evolution. His research aims to advance the development and deployment of cutting-edge geospatial technologies.
