Biography:

Xie Ning, Distinguished Professor of Sichuan Province, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Research interests include Statistical Machine Learning, Computer Graphics. Research areas include Reinforcement Learning, 3D modeling, Behavioral Intelligence, Game Intelligence, Artistic Rendering, and so on. He was guided by Professor Sugiyama (Prof. Masashi Sugiyama), an expert in Artificial Intelligence. In 2013, he was awarded the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award (only in Information Science) of Japan’s national master Shimaji. He has published more than 50 papers in top international conferences and journals (ICMLIJCAISIGGRAPH AsiaNeural Computation, etc.)


Abstract:

At present, Artificial Intelligence is developing rapidly and is becoming an incubator and booster for new industries, new formats, and new models. As Nobel Prize winner George Smoot said at the World VR Conference in 2018, “VR/AR will play the interface between AI and human beings in the future”. AI combined with VR has become an inevitable development of technology. The intelligent modeling method in VR focuses on the modeling technology of intelligent behavior on virtual objects, improves the sociality, diversity, and interactive realism of the intelligent objects in VR, and realizes the organic combination and efficient interaction between VR, Augmented Reality, and AI. VR intelligent modeling technology is clearly listed as one of the Key Common Technology Systems in the “New Generation of Artificial Intelligence Development Plan” issued by the State Council. This will bring revolutionary development for the Interactive Multimedia Engine Technology for Industrial Visualization, VR, and interactive entertainment in the service industry.


Our team focused on the core issues of human-machine hybrid intelligence in interactive multimedia engines (games, virtual reality, industrial visualization engines, etc.). We mainly study the theory and algorithm of intelligent modeling for the interactive multimedia engine. Specifically, researches are focused on the Cross-platform Technology of digital content generation, lightweight and network collaboration in intelligent 3D modeling; Perceptual Enhancement Technologies such as Intelligent Perception, Expression and Scene Understanding; Technologies of Environment in Behavior Modeling, the Machine Learning method of Task, and Decision-making, the incentive mechanism of Human in the loop, the method of Behavior and Decision Evaluation. In the typical application fields of Education, Industry, and Culture, an Artificial Intelligence platform is developed to meet the seamless connection between the real and virtual world and the two-way cooperation between humans and machines in the digital twin.
